It's arguably the best-known, if least understood, name in Delaware rock music: Love Seed Mama Jump.

The popular six-piece band from southern Delaware refuses to disclose the meaning of its seemingly meaningless name. But that just makes the group even more memorable, and suits the Love Seed philosophy that it's all about having fun.

The LSMJ sound is described as guitar-driven pop rock: a blend of modern beats and melodic hooks delivered with powerful, impassioned lead vocals and killer harmonies. Along with its five independently released CDs, Love Seed Mama Jump performs energetic and engaging live shows up and down the East Coast and is the official rock band of the Washington Redskins, playing after every home game at FedEx Field. LSMJ's music been featured on MTV, ESPN, X-Box's Project Gotham Racing game, and on radio stations throughout the country.

Starting in the late '80s as a glimmer in the eyes of two Cape Henlopen High School students, Will Stack (guitar) and Rick Arzt (vocals), Love Seed evolved in the early '90s to include Pete Wiedmann (bass, vocals), Cliff Hills (guitar), Brian Gore (guitar), Dave James (percussion), and Paul Voshell (drums). The group became popular as a cover band playing college-student haunts in Rehoboth and Dewey, eventually adding original music and expanding its reach well beyond Delaware.

On its MySpace page LSMJ cites its influences as: "Money, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Velvet Underground, Pixies, The Smiths, The Cure, Simon & Garfunkel, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton. Mostly money, though."
